The Lubbock hoodie, for the town that is the Hub City of the South Plains. A medium-heavy cotton pullover with the Lubbock vintage retro logo across the chest in white, made to be worn from the first cold morning to the last.

If you are buying one Lubbock piece, this is the one that gets worn most: warm enough for the sideline, the dock and the drive home, and the hoodie that gets borrowed and never returned. It is the gift for the one who moved away from Lubbock, and the one that arrives in time for the holidays if you order now.

Unisex pullover hoodie made from a medium-heavy fleece for warmth and durability. Regular fit with a three-panel hood, ribbed cuffs and waistband, and double-needle stitching at key seams; tear-away label. Runs true to size for adults. Fabric is 80% combed ring-spun cotton / 20% polyester; heather colors may use cotton–poly blends.

Two rival promoters’ towns, Old Lubbock and Monterey, agreed to merge on December 19, 1890, on the Llano Estacado at 3,256 feet, named for Colonel Thomas Saltus Lubbock. The Santa Fe arrived, the city incorporated on March 16, 1909, and in 1923 it won the contest to host Texas Technological College.

The Hub City sits at the heart of the world’s largest contiguous cotton-growing region, under a high-plains wind that powers the American Windmill Museum, and the Lubbock Lake Landmark records ten thousand years of people on the same ground. Two plains towns made one is the mark on this piece.

Product FAQs

How does your sizing work?

Every item is made to order, so please check the size chart on this page before you buy. Women's fitted tees run small; size up for a looser fit. Caps are one size with an adjustable strap.

How are items made and when will they arrive?

We make each item to order using premium blanks, embroidery and soft-hand prints. Production takes 2-5 business days (weekends and holidays excluded), then 4-10 days in transit via USPS, UPS or FedEx to U.S. addresses; most orders arrive within 6-15 business days. You'll get a tracking link the moment it ships. Any current shipping offer is shown in the bar at the top of every page and applies automatically at checkout, no code needed.

How do I send a gift?

Enter the recipient's address as the shipping address and your own as the billing address at checkout. Nothing ships with a price; the package includes a plain packing slip. Tracking goes to your email, not theirs. For birthdays and holidays, order two weeks ahead to be safe.

What's the return policy?

Made-to-order items can't be returned or exchanged for size or color, so please use the size chart and photos before ordering. If anything arrives defective, misprinted or damaged, send a photo and your order number within 30 days and we'll replace it or refund you.

How do I care for my item?

Apparel: wash cold, inside out, with like colors; no bleach; tumble dry low or hang dry. Embroidered pieces: iron inside out to protect the stitching. Caps: spot clean. Printed glasses and water bottles: hand wash only, no dishwasher, so the artwork lasts. Mugs and engraved glasses are dishwasher safe. Any item-specific care notes are in the description above.

Who makes this?

Merlin Classics is a small Connecticut brand making original retro designs for the towns people love. Every piece is printed, embroidered or engraved to order in the USA, and the business supports hunger relief in the communities our collections celebrate.

Lubbock was founded in 1890 on the South Plains, named after Texas Ranger Thomas Lubbock. Indigenous peoples had lived there for centuries before ranchers arrived. Early settlers endured drought, dust storms, and isolation, but resilience anchored survival. Cotton and cattle provided livelihoods. Lubbock’s founding identity reflects Texas’s frontier grit, agricultural endurance, and independence. Its story highlights ambition and toughness, creating a layered identity tied to ranching, farming, and resilience. Lubbock’s origins emphasize independence, pride, and endurance, making it a community rooted in frontier determination and Texan resilience across harsh and changing conditions.

The town within the town. Lubbock's oldest residents may be its smallest: at Mackenzie Park sits Prairie Dog Town, one of the first protected prairie-dog colonies anywhere, established in the 1930s when a Lubbock couple decided the disappearing plains icon deserved a permanent address. The colony has been barking at visitors ever since — a few acres of the original High Plains, holding out cheerfully in the middle of the Hub City.

Why People Visit Lubbock Texas

Lubbock is the heartland-pride heart of West Texas: the Hub City of the South Plains, the commercial heart of the world's largest contiguous cotton-growing region, a town founded in 1890 when two rivals chose to become one. It offers the world's largest windmill collection, the deep ranching archive of the National Ranching Heritage Center, the 10,000-year human record at the Lubbock Lake Landmark, the railroad-era Depot District, the canyon parks of Yellow House Canyon, and a West Texas music heritage that helped shape American rock and roll — all under the wide flat sky of the Llano Estacado. It feels spacious, sunny, and grounded, where cotton country, university life, and plains heritage sit side by side. Hub City. Cotton country. West Texas, wide open.
