The Lubbock tank, for the town that is the Hub City of the South Plains. Lightweight Airlume cotton jersey with the Lubbock vintage retro logo on the chest in black, for the hottest months of the year.

The tank is the summer Lubbock piece: light enough for the trail, the boat and the porch, cut in a retail unisex fit that runs true to size. Order it before the warm weather does the deciding for you.

Unisex jersey tank made from lightweight Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton with a retail fit. Side-seam construction and self-fabric binding help it hold shape, with a tear-away label, and it runs true to size for adults. Solid colors are 100% cotton; select heather/prism shades may include cotton–poly or cotton–poly–rayon blends.

Two rival promoters’ towns, Old Lubbock and Monterey, agreed to merge on December 19, 1890, on the Llano Estacado at 3,256 feet, named for Colonel Thomas Saltus Lubbock. The Santa Fe arrived, the city incorporated on March 16, 1909, and in 1923 it won the contest to host Texas Technological College.

The Hub City sits at the heart of the world’s largest contiguous cotton-growing region, under a high-plains wind that powers the American Windmill Museum, and the Lubbock Lake Landmark records ten thousand years of people on the same ground. Two plains towns made one is the mark on this piece.

Product FAQs

How does your sizing work?

Every item is made to order, so please check the size chart on this page before you buy. Women's fitted tees run small; size up for a looser fit. Caps are one size with an adjustable strap.

How are items made and when will they arrive?

We make each item to order using premium blanks, embroidery and soft-hand prints. Production takes 2-5 business days (weekends and holidays excluded), then 4-10 days in transit via USPS, UPS or FedEx to U.S. addresses; most orders arrive within 6-15 business days. You'll get a tracking link the moment it ships. Any current shipping offer is shown in the bar at the top of every page and applies automatically at checkout, no code needed.

How do I send a gift?

Enter the recipient's address as the shipping address and your own as the billing address at checkout. Nothing ships with a price; the package includes a plain packing slip. Tracking goes to your email, not theirs. For birthdays and holidays, order two weeks ahead to be safe.

What's the return policy?

Made-to-order items can't be returned or exchanged for size or color, so please use the size chart and photos before ordering. If anything arrives defective, misprinted or damaged, send a photo and your order number within 30 days and we'll replace it or refund you.

How do I care for my item?

Apparel: wash cold, inside out, with like colors; no bleach; tumble dry low or hang dry. Embroidered pieces: iron inside out to protect the stitching. Caps: spot clean. Printed glasses and water bottles: hand wash only, no dishwasher, so the artwork lasts. Mugs and engraved glasses are dishwasher safe. Any item-specific care notes are in the description above.

Who makes this?

Merlin Classics is a small Connecticut brand making original retro designs for the towns people love. Every piece is printed, embroidered or engraved to order in the USA, and the business supports hunger relief in the communities our collections celebrate.

The town within the town. Lubbock's oldest residents may be its smallest: at Mackenzie Park sits Prairie Dog Town, one of the first protected prairie-dog colonies anywhere, established in the 1930s when a Lubbock couple decided the disappearing plains icon deserved a permanent address. The colony has been barking at visitors ever since — a few acres of the original High Plains, holding out cheerfully in the middle of the Hub City.

Today Lubbock is celebrated as a cotton capital and university city. Its story reflects resilience, pride, and ambition. Our Lubbock designs embody this layered identity, pairing the longhorn and Lone Star motif with vintage styling. They invite you to explore the Lubbock collection and carry forward a reminder of Texas resilience. Retro in tone, the logo reflects endurance and authenticity. Lubbock’s emblem honors both heritage and suburban identity, making it a vintage symbol of Texas pride. Explore the collection and share in Lubbock’s story of toughness, heritage, and community pride across generations.
