The Pasadena polo, for the town that is where the urban cowboy rode. Soft ring-spun cotton pique with the Pasadena vintage retro logo embroidered on the chest in black thread: hometown pride that passes at the office.

Choose the polo when a t-shirt is too casual and a logo too loud: the embroidered crest reads as a club mark, so it works for golf, a summer dinner or a workday. It is the Pasadena gift for fathers, grooms and anyone who already owns too many tees.

A polo that works for the office, the course, or the weekend: soft 100% ring-spun cotton pique (~5.2 oz/yd²) in a clean, semi-fitted, side-seamed cut, with a 2-button placket, dyed-to-match buttons, and our vintage-retro logo embroidered on the chest. The breathable, lightweight fabric is comfortable in warm weather and carries advanced fabric certification. Care: machine wash cold (gentle), tumble dry low, no bleach, do not iron decoration, no dry clean. Embroidery is thread, not ink, so slight differences from the digital product image are normal — full details in our Embroidery footer.

John Burnett of Galveston founded Pasadena in 1893 and named it, optimistically, for the lush California town; the railroad reached it in 1894. After the 1900 Galveston hurricane Clara Barton sent strawberry plants, and the town became the strawberry capital of the Gulf Coast, then a Ship Channel boomtown after 1914.

Gilley’s opened around 1971 as the world’s largest honky-tonk, and in 1980 Urban Cowboy put its mechanical bull on every screen in America. The 1950 Washburn Tunnel runs under the Ship Channel, the Capitan Theater keeps its neon, and the Strawberry Festival keeps the old name. Pasadena, Texas, is the mark on this piece.

Product FAQs

How does your sizing work?

Every item is made to order, so please check the size chart on this page before you buy. Women's fitted tees run small; size up for a looser fit. Caps are one size with an adjustable strap.

How are items made and when will they arrive?

We make each item to order using premium blanks, embroidery and soft-hand prints. Production takes 2-5 business days (weekends and holidays excluded), then 4-10 days in transit via USPS, UPS or FedEx to U.S. addresses; most orders arrive within 6-15 business days. You'll get a tracking link the moment it ships. Any current shipping offer is shown in the bar at the top of every page and applies automatically at checkout, no code needed.

How do I send a gift?

Enter the recipient's address as the shipping address and your own as the billing address at checkout. Nothing ships with a price; the package includes a plain packing slip. Tracking goes to your email, not theirs. For birthdays and holidays, order two weeks ahead to be safe.

What's the return policy?

Made-to-order items can't be returned or exchanged for size or color, so please use the size chart and photos before ordering. If anything arrives defective, misprinted or damaged, send a photo and your order number within 30 days and we'll replace it or refund you.

How do I care for my item?

Apparel: wash cold, inside out, with like colors; no bleach; tumble dry low or hang dry. Embroidered pieces: iron inside out to protect the stitching. Caps: spot clean. Printed glasses and water bottles: hand wash only, no dishwasher, so the artwork lasts. Mugs and engraved glasses are dishwasher safe. Any item-specific care notes are in the description above.

Who makes this?

Merlin Classics is a small Connecticut brand making original retro designs for the towns people love. Every piece is printed, embroidered or engraved to order in the USA, and the business supports hunger relief in the communities our collections celebrate.

For all the oil and the honky-tonk nights, Pasadena never let go of the berry. The Pasadena Strawberry Festival, held each spring, draws crowds for its carnival, its livestock show and rodeo, and that record-setting shortcake; it is the town's signature weekend and the truest link back to the Clara Barton plants of 1900. Add the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo and a calendar of community fairs, and the picture is of a city that works hard all week and celebrates loud — strawberries, Western, and Gulf-coast all at once.

There is a quieter Pasadena too, out along the water. Armand Bayou Nature Center, one of the largest urban wilderness preserves in the country, threads boardwalks through marsh and forest alive with herons, alligators, and migrating birds; the El Jardin shoreline and a string of bayou greenways give the industrial city a surprising amount of wild edge. Just up the road sits the San Jacinto Monument, where Texas won its independence in 1836, a reminder that this stretch of bayou country shaped the whole state. The same Galveston Bay that brings the hurricanes also brings the herons, and Pasadena lives with both.

Why People Visit Pasadena

Pasadena balances big-city access with Gulf-coast ease. Visitors pair the strawberry and Western heritage with bayou boardwalks, festival weekends, and a short hop to Houston, the Space Center nearby, or the beach. It is friendly, unpretentious, and family-oriented, with year-round appeal in its parks, trails, and public spaces. History and everyday culture sit side by side here in a welcoming way.
