The Milford hoodie, for the town that was settled on the Wepawaug in 1639. A medium-heavy cotton pullover with the Milford vintage retro logo across the chest in white, made to be worn from the first cold morning to the last.

If you are buying one Milford piece, this is the one that gets worn most: warm enough for the sideline, the dock and the drive home, and the hoodie that gets borrowed and never returned. It is the gift for the one who moved away from Milford, and the one that arrives in time for the holidays if you order now.

A medium-heavy fleece pullover hoodie built for warmth that lasts. The regular, true-to-size adult fit comes with a three-panel hood, ribbed cuffs and waistband, and double-needle stitching where it counts, plus a tear-away label. 80% combed ring-spun cotton / 20% polyester; heather shades may be cotton–poly blends.

Milford’s planters bought Wepawaug from the Paugussett sachem Ansantawae in February 1639 and settled on August 22 of that year under Reverend Peter Prudden, making it the sixth-oldest town in Connecticut. William Fowler’s mill at the ford gave it its name in 1640, and Robert Treat left here in 1666 to found Newark, New Jersey.

The Milford Green is the second-longest in New England, the 1889 Memorial Bridge carries the founders’ names in stone, and Captain Kidd’s gold is said to be buried on Charles Island off Silver Sands. Seventeen miles of coast and the Milford Oyster Festival, the state’s largest one-day festival, round out the town. The mark on this piece is the Wepawaug.

Product FAQs

How does your sizing work?

Every item is made to order, so please check the size chart on this page before you buy. Women's fitted tees run small; size up for a looser fit. Caps are one size with an adjustable strap.

How are items made and when will they arrive?

We make each item to order using premium blanks, embroidery and soft-hand prints. Production takes 2-5 business days (weekends and holidays excluded), then 4-10 days in transit via USPS, UPS or FedEx to U.S. addresses; most orders arrive within 6-15 business days. You'll get a tracking link the moment it ships. Any current shipping offer is shown in the bar at the top of every page and applies automatically at checkout, no code needed.

How do I send a gift?

Enter the recipient's address as the shipping address and your own as the billing address at checkout. Nothing ships with a price; the package includes a plain packing slip. Tracking goes to your email, not theirs. For birthdays and holidays, order two weeks ahead to be safe.

What's the return policy?

Made-to-order items can't be returned or exchanged for size or color, so please use the size chart and photos before ordering. If anything arrives defective, misprinted or damaged, send a photo and your order number within 30 days and we'll replace it or refund you.

How do I care for my item?

Apparel: wash cold, inside out, with like colors; no bleach; tumble dry low or hang dry. Embroidered pieces: iron inside out to protect the stitching. Caps: spot clean. Printed glasses and water bottles: hand wash only, no dishwasher, so the artwork lasts. Mugs and engraved glasses are dishwasher safe. Any item-specific care notes are in the description above.

Who makes this?

Merlin Classics is a small Connecticut brand making original retro designs for the towns people love. Every piece is printed, embroidered or engraved to order in the USA, and the business supports hunger relief in the communities our collections celebrate.

By the late nineteenth century the same shore had become a getaway. With seventeen miles of coast — Walnut Beach and its boardwalk, Gulf Beach, Milford Point at the mouth of the Housatonic — Milford grew into a summer resort for New Haven and Bridgeport. Today that coast holds Silver Sands State Park, often rated the finest in Connecticut, and the Audubon coastal center at Milford Point, where more than three hundred species of birds have been counted along the marsh.

So Milford gathers a 1639 green, a treasure island, an oyster festival, and seventeen miles of shore onto Long Island Sound. Our Milford designs gather that into wearable form. Wear the history. On the Wepawaug since 1639 — Milford, CT.
