Why does the American game change every spring? A new card arrives each year, and last year's winning hands stop counting, so every player starts again as a student.
Pour something strong and study up. This Big Joker mug is made for the morning the new card lands, for the kitchen table where hands get circled in pencil, and for anyone who still reaches for last year's card by mistake.
In 1960 the league moved the new card from the end of the year to the start of April, leaving players time to practice before summer. The volunteers who build it start in August and finish in November, and the cards begin to arrive in late March.
Sales of the card benefit charities, and one recent count put orders above 350,000. Many groups still rotate through members' homes for a weekly game, each week a new kitchen and a new pot of coffee. It is the rare pastime with an annual reset, and that reset keeps the table humble.
A white ceramic mug with a comfortable C-handle and a glossy finish, in your choice of 11 oz or 15 oz. The print goes around a curved surface, so see the photos for placement. It is dishwasher and microwave safe. As with everything we make, profits support hunger relief.
