Who sits out in a five-player game? One player waits each hand, and in the American game she may quietly place a bet on who will win.
Four coasters for four seats at the table, and the Big Joker on all of them. It is an easy gift for the host, and a polite way to keep rings away from the racks while somebody counts tiles.
Seats follow the winds. South sits to East's right, West across, and North to East's left. East, chosen by the highest roll of the dice, starts with 14 tiles while the others hold 13, and the deal passes to the right after each hand.
With five at the table, one person sits out. In the American game she may bet on a player or on the wall, must lock that in before East's first discard, and has to stay silent. A 2023 rulebook note confirms betting is optional. So the fifth seat is not idle. She has the best view in the room.

For apparel: wash cold, inside-out, with like colors; avoid bleach and high heat; tumble dry low or hang dry. For embroidery, iron inside-out to protect the stitching. We make each item on demand using premium blanks, embroidery, and soft-hand prints. Production usually takes 2–5 business days (excluding weekends and holidays). You’ll receive tracking once shipped. We currently ship to U.S. addresses via USPS, UPS, or FedEx. Most orders arrive within 6–15 business days.
What’s the return/exchange policy?
We accept returns for defects, misprints, or damage on arrival. Report issues within 30 days with photos and your order number, and we’ll replace or refund. Size or color changes aren’t supported after purchase, so please consult size charts before ordering if you are at all unsure.
