This is our retro Grand Prairie, Texas logo, printed in weathered charcoal on a retro vintage washed cap — an unstructured cotton dad hat that looks broken in from the day it arrives. The charcoal carries a faint wavering tone and a light speckle, so the print reads like it has been in the sun as long as the cap has.

The cap is 8.5 oz 100% cotton twill, enzyme washed and heavily brushed for a soft hand, with an unstructured six-panel crown, a mid-profile fit and a curved bill. A self-fabric strapback with a metal slider adjusts the fit and tucks away, and a self-fabric sweatband lines the inside. It is garment dyed with OEKO-TEX certified low-impact dyes, so every cap's color varies slightly — washed here means faded color and a weathered print, not distressed or frayed.

  • 100% cotton twill, 8.5 oz, enzyme washed and brushed
  • Unstructured six-panel crown, mid profile, curved bill
  • Self-fabric strapback with metal slider
  • One size fits most — hat sizes 6¾ to 7⅝
  • Logo printed in charcoal with a weathered tone
  • Hand wash cold, air dry; made to order

One size fits most, so it is an easy gift to get right: no size to guess, only the town. Each cap is made to order. Hand wash cold and air dry, and keep it out of the dryer. As with everything we make, profits support hunger relief.

After the war the aerospace work stayed and the prairie filled in around it — subdivisions, shopping, the Metroplex closing over the open ground from both directions. Then in 1996 Lone Star Park opened its grandstand and the horses came back to the prairie, thoroughbreds and quarter horses running spring and fall, with the Breeders' Cup brought to the grandstand in 2004. The quarter horse itself closes the circle: the foundation stock Texans still argue about — back to Steel Dust himself, the legend the breed's oldest arguments run through — carried the blood of the same Spanish horses that ran here before the fences. The return is less a coincidence than a long circle finally closing.

Our Grand Prairie logo carries the Texas longhorn and Lone Star, the emblem every Merlin Classics Texas place wears, set over “Texas Republic, Est. 1845.” The longhorn and the star are the state’s shorthand — endurance, independence, the open range — printed black-and-white with the worn look of an old barn brand or a rodeo bill. What makes this one Grand Prairie is what stands behind it: the grassland that named the town, the horses that ran it, and the aircraft that borrowed their name. On a tee or a cap it reads less like a souvenir than like a piece of North Texas, worn plain.

Why People Visit Grand Prairie, Texas

People come for the central Metroplex location and the mix of prairie, lakes, and live racing — and stay curious about an aviation heritage most visitors never expect from a city between Dallas and Fort Worth. It is flat, friendly, and in the middle of everything, with a long horizon and a longer memory than its suburbs suggest.
