The Wellington baby bodysuit, for the town that is the Winter Equestrian Capital of the World. Soft fine jersey with the Wellington vintage retro logo on the front in black, newborn to 24 months.

This is the new-baby gift from the hometown: light, soft, with a snap crotch that makes changes easy and a logo the parents will photograph. Order it as soon as the news arrives; it is the Wellington piece most often bought for someone else.

Light 4.5 oz (153 g/m²) fine jersey keeps this unisex infant bodysuit soft and breathable. Side seams and ribbed binding add durability, and the snap crotch is secure and quick for changes. Solid colors are 100% combed ringspun cotton, while heather shades include a cotton–polyester blend.

A Harvard-trained accountant and aviator named Charles Oliver Wellington bought about 18,000 acres of Everglades-edge swamp in the 1950s, drained it through the Acme Drainage District of 1953 and ran the Flying Cow Ranch, once the world’s largest strawberry patch. Palm Beach County approved the planned community in 1972 and polo arrived in 1977.

The Winter Equestrian Festival took root in the 1980s, and at the height of season up to 20,000 horses are stabled in the village, served by more than 700 farms and some sixty miles of bridle trails. The Village of Wellington incorporated on December 31, 1995. The Winter Equestrian Capital is the mark on this piece.

Product FAQs

How does your sizing work?

Every item is made to order, so please check the size chart on this page before you buy. Women's fitted tees run small; size up for a looser fit. Caps are one size with an adjustable strap.

How are items made and when will they arrive?

We make each item to order using premium blanks, embroidery and soft-hand prints. Production takes 2-5 business days (weekends and holidays excluded), then 4-10 days in transit via USPS, UPS or FedEx to U.S. addresses; most orders arrive within 6-15 business days. You'll get a tracking link the moment it ships. Any current shipping offer is shown in the bar at the top of every page and applies automatically at checkout, no code needed.

How do I send a gift?

Enter the recipient's address as the shipping address and your own as the billing address at checkout. Nothing ships with a price; the package includes a plain packing slip. Tracking goes to your email, not theirs. For birthdays and holidays, order two weeks ahead to be safe.

What's the return policy?

Made-to-order items can't be returned or exchanged for size or color, so please use the size chart and photos before ordering. If anything arrives defective, misprinted or damaged, send a photo and your order number within 30 days and we'll replace it or refund you.

How do I care for my item?

Apparel: wash cold, inside out, with like colors; no bleach; tumble dry low or hang dry. Embroidered pieces: iron inside out to protect the stitching. Caps: spot clean. Printed glasses and water bottles: hand wash only, no dishwasher, so the artwork lasts. Mugs and engraved glasses are dishwasher safe. Any item-specific care notes are in the description above.

Who makes this?

Merlin Classics is a small Connecticut brand making original retro designs for the towns people love. Every piece is printed, embroidered or engraved to order in the USA, and the business supports hunger relief in the communities our collections celebrate.

The village made it official on December 31, 1995, when Wellington incorporated — today Florida's most populous village — and in 2002 it did something rarer than growing: it protected the reason it mattered, creating the Equestrian Preserve Overlay District over roughly nine thousand acres of horse country. Dozens of miles of public bridle trails thread the preserve, horses have their own crossings on the village's roads, and the neighborhoods around Lake Wellington, the wetland parks, and some of the state's best-regarded schools give the place its second identity: a green, planned family village on the Everglades' doorstep.

Our Wellington retro logo uses a Florida alligator motif, representing toughness, adaptability, and connection to Florida's wild heritage. The alligator reflects both literal wildlife in the reclaimed swamps and symbolic resilience against storms. The "EST. 1845" date marks Florida statehood — Florida was admitted to the Union as the twenty-seventh state on March 3, 1845. Its black-and-white styling resembles crate labels or woodcut stamps, authentic and retro rather than glossy. The motif bridges Wellington's dual identity: reclaimed marshland turned village, and equestrian capital rooted in resilience. On merchandise, it feels vintage and rugged, honoring Wellington's layered story while celebrating its Florida heritage of toughness and adaptability.

Why People Visit Wellington Florida

  • Take in the winter equestrian season — show jumping, dressage, and international polo draw riders from around the world to Wellington's rings and polo fields each January through April.
  • Ride or walk part of the Equestrian Preserve's bridle-trail network — dozens of miles of public horse trails threading the village's horse country.
  • Walk the Wellington Environmental Preserve at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Everglades Habitat — a 365-acre public park with trails and birdwatching towers on the Everglades edge.
  • Explore Peaceful Waters Sanctuary — a 30-acre wetlands park with boardwalks across marsh and wetland habitats.
  • Relax along Lake Wellington and the village's neighborhood parks and ball fields.
  • Drive the horse-themed street grid of the equestrian neighborhoods, where barns and rings sit beside the canals of the old Acme Drainage District.
