The Greens Farms Original Art Series tee, for the town that the Pequot called Machamux, the beautiful land. The classy town logo on the front and Greens Farms’s own artwork, bold and full-size, on the back.

Choose the Art Series tee when the logo tee is too quiet: heavyweight garment-dyed cotton with a lived-in hand and the Greens Farms artwork printed large across the back. It is the Greens Farms shirt people stop you to ask about.

The Original Art Series tee crafted from soft heavy weight garment-dyed premium 6.1 oz ring-spun U.S. cotton pairs a soft, lived-in hand with enduring structure. A relaxed, straight silhouette and tubular knit body deliver clean lines that layer effortlessly, while double-needle hems and a smooth, tag-free neckline ensure long-wear comfort. Finished with our classy city logo on the front with bold original art on the back, it’s a refined essential that feels broken-in from day one yet built to last — designed to complement everything from worn denim to a sharp blazer.

Before it was Greens Farms the Pequot called this stretch of shore Machamux, the beautiful land. Five Bankside Farmers settled it in 1648, the first English settlement in the area and the oldest corner of what became Westport; the first schoolhouse went up on the Common in 1703, the West Parish meeting house in 1711, and the name changed to Green’s Farms in 1732 for farmer John Green.

The British burned the meeting house and fifteen houses in the Revolution, and the congregation hid its communion silver in Deacon Jesup’s well. The 1853 meeting house on Hillandale Road carries on the 1711 society, the Machamux Boulder marks the original settlement, and Sherwood Island, Connecticut’s first state park, lies on its shore. The mark on this piece is the beautiful land.

Product FAQs

How does your sizing work?

Every item is made to order, so please check the size chart on this page before you buy. Women's fitted tees run small; size up for a looser fit. Caps are one size with an adjustable strap.

How are items made and when will they arrive?

We make each item to order using premium blanks, embroidery and soft-hand prints. Production takes 2-5 business days (weekends and holidays excluded), then 4-10 days in transit via USPS, UPS or FedEx to U.S. addresses; most orders arrive within 6-15 business days. You'll get a tracking link the moment it ships. Any current shipping offer is shown in the bar at the top of every page and applies automatically at checkout, no code needed.

How do I send a gift?

Enter the recipient's address as the shipping address and your own as the billing address at checkout. Nothing ships with a price; the package includes a plain packing slip. Tracking goes to your email, not theirs. For birthdays and holidays, order two weeks ahead to be safe.

What's the return policy?

Made-to-order items can't be returned or exchanged for size or color, so please use the size chart and photos before ordering. If anything arrives defective, misprinted or damaged, send a photo and your order number within 30 days and we'll replace it or refund you.

How do I care for my item?

Apparel: wash cold, inside out, with like colors; no bleach; tumble dry low or hang dry. Embroidered pieces: iron inside out to protect the stitching. Caps: spot clean. Printed glasses and water bottles: hand wash only, no dishwasher, so the artwork lasts. Mugs and engraved glasses are dishwasher safe. Any item-specific care notes are in the description above.

Who makes this?

Merlin Classics is a small Connecticut brand making original retro designs for the towns people love. Every piece is printed, embroidered or engraved to order in the USA, and the business supports hunger relief in the communities our collections celebrate.

Today Greens Farms blends shoreline calm with the deepest colonial memory on the Westport coast. Its story runs from Machamux and the five families of 1648, through the burned and rebuilt parish, the onion boats and the railroad, to the first state park and the quiet lanes of the present. Wear a little of the beautiful land.

Two centuries after the Bankside landing, the shoreline gave Connecticut a different kind of landmark. At Sherwood Island — named for the Sherwood family who farmed it — the state's first land purchases in 1914 began what would become, after a long public battle over access and funding, Connecticut's first state park, fully opened in 1937: 238 acres of beach, marsh, and shade trees that taught the state what public shoreline could be. At the island's point stands Connecticut's 9/11 Living Memorial, on the spot where, on that clear morning, the smoke was visible down the Sound.

Why People Visit Greens Farms

  • Spend a beach day at Sherwood Island State Park — Connecticut's first state park — and walk out to the point for the 9/11 Living Memorial's long view down the Sound.
  • Find the Machamux Boulder on the old Common along Green's Farms Road — the 1648 settlement marked in stone.
  • See the Greens Farms Congregational Church, the parish that rebuilt after 1779 and never broke its line.
  • Swim the town side at Burying Hill Beach, the small crescent with the big history in its name.
  • Walk or fish the marsh edges where the onion boats once loaded, and watch the ospreys work New Creek.
  • Ride the New Haven Line to the little Green's Farms station and arrive the way a century of villagers did.
