This is our retro Tallahassee, Florida logo, printed in weathered charcoal on a retro vintage washed cap — an unstructured cotton dad hat that looks broken in from the day it arrives. The charcoal carries a faint wavering tone and a light speckle, so the print reads like it has been in the sun as long as the cap has.

The cap is 8.5 oz 100% cotton twill, enzyme washed and heavily brushed for a soft hand, with an unstructured six-panel crown, a mid-profile fit and a curved bill. A self-fabric strapback with a metal slider adjusts the fit and tucks away, and a self-fabric sweatband lines the inside. It is garment dyed with OEKO-TEX certified low-impact dyes, so every cap's color varies slightly — washed here means faded color and a weathered print, not distressed or frayed.

  • 100% cotton twill, 8.5 oz, enzyme washed and brushed
  • Unstructured six-panel crown, mid profile, curved bill
  • Self-fabric strapback with metal slider
  • One size fits most — hat sizes 6¾ to 7⅝
  • Logo printed in charcoal with a weathered tone
  • Hand wash cold, air dry; made to order

One size fits most, so it is an easy gift to get right: no size to guess, only the town. Each cap is made to order. Hand wash cold and air dry, and keep it out of the dryer. As with everything we make, profits support hunger relief.

So Tallahassee gathers more history under its oaks than almost anywhere in Florida: an Apalachee old town, a Spanish mission rebuilt on its hill, a candy-striped capitol, and nine roads roofed in moss. Our Tallahassee designs gather that into wearable form. Wear the history. This is the capital under the canopy oaks.

The name means something close to ‘old town’ or ‘old fields’ in the Creek tongue, and it was old long before it was a capital. Tallahassee was chosen in 1824 as the seat of territorial Florida for a plain reason of geography: it sat roughly halfway between St. Augustine and Pensacola, the two old colonial capitals of East and West Florida that the United States had just joined together under the 1819 treaty with Spain. Surveyors laid out a grid in the Red Hills, the town incorporated in 1825, and a frontier capital took root in the Leon County woods.

Why People Visit Tallahassee

Tallahassee blends civic history with surprising green space. Visitors mix the capitol buildings and downtown museums with canopy-road drives, gardens, and easy urban trails. It is scholarly, calm, and quietly scenic, with year-round appeal in its parks, paths, and public spaces. This is Old Florida and the modern capital at once — history and everyday culture sitting side by side under the oaks in a welcoming way.
