This is our retro Kaanapali, Hawaii logo, printed in weathered charcoal on a retro vintage washed cap — an unstructured cotton dad hat that looks broken in from the day it arrives. The charcoal carries a faint wavering tone and a light speckle, so the print reads like it has been in the sun as long as the cap has.

The cap is 8.5 oz 100% cotton twill, enzyme washed and heavily brushed for a soft hand, with an unstructured six-panel crown, a mid-profile fit and a curved bill. A self-fabric strapback with a metal slider adjusts the fit and tucks away, and a self-fabric sweatband lines the inside. It is garment dyed with OEKO-TEX certified low-impact dyes, so every cap's color varies slightly — washed here means faded color and a weathered print, not distressed or frayed.

  • 100% cotton twill, 8.5 oz, enzyme washed and brushed
  • Unstructured six-panel crown, mid profile, curved bill
  • Self-fabric strapback with metal slider
  • One size fits most — hat sizes 6¾ to 7⅝
  • Logo printed in charcoal with a weathered tone
  • Hand wash cold, air dry; made to order

One size fits most, so it is an easy gift to get right: no size to guess, only the town. Each cap is made to order. Hand wash cold and air dry, and keep it out of the dryer. As with everything we make, profits support hunger relief.

Today Kāʻanapali is West Maui’s resort coast — a long, bright beach beneath green mountains, the islands in view and whales offshore in winter — but its story runs deeper than the hotels: royal land and sacred ground, a century of sugar, and the little steam train that still runs through the island’s memory. Our Kāʻanapali designs gather that into wearable form. Kāʻanapali, Maui — three miles of golden sand below the West Maui Mountains, where black lava meets the sunset sea.

Then sugar gave way to sand. As cane profits faded, American Factors — Amfac, the company behind Pioneer Mill — took twelve hundred acres out of production and, beginning in 1959, built something Hawaiʻi had never seen: a resort planned whole, from the ground up. Kāʻanapali Beach Resort opened in 1962, the first master-planned resort destination in the islands and a model later copied around the world. In its early years small planes even touched down at the resort’s own beachfront airstrip, taxiing almost to the hotel doors.

Why People Visit Kāʻanapali

Kāʻanapali offers the classic West Maui beach day: warm, calm water, a long walkable shore, mountains behind and islands in view. It pairs an easy resort coast with deep heritage — royal land, sacred ground, a century of sugar, and the memory of the Sugar Cane Train. It is sunny, scenic, and welcoming, with year-round appeal.
